Biography
Angela graduated in medicine and surgery from the University of Melbourne in 1996.
​
Gained experience in general, breast and vascular surgery at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne and associated rural hospitals.
​
Specialist plastic surgery training included skin cancer, paediatric, hand, microsurgery, breast cancer reconstruction and cosmetic surgery. Gained her final surgical fellowship at the start of 2005.
​
Undertook a Masters of Surgery in skin stem cell research at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre through the University of Melbourne and the Bernard O'Brien Institute of Microsurgery in 2004. Awarded the Melville Hughes Scholarship.
​
In 2006, undertook further specialist training in the United Kingdom to hone hand, microsurgery and skin cancer surgery skills.
​
In 2007, returned to Melbourne and worked at the Skin Health Institute and multiple public hospitals, in particular Royal Melbourne Hospital and St Vincent's Hospital. It was at St Vincent's Hospital in 2011, that Angela was involved in leading Australia's first hand transplant surgery.
​
Since 2014, has been Director of the Plastic Surgery Unit at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre where actively involved in training fellows, registrars and medical students as well as in the administration of surgical services.
​
Each week, works closely with breast surgeons and nurses to manage patients affected by breast cancer, as well as with dermatologists, pathologists, radiation and medical oncologists to manage complex skin cancer patients.
